Alice… down the rabbit hole, to the land down under

I feel as if I’m channeling one of my favorite fictional characters. Since wrapping Glee, I have been on a fantastic journey, traveling all over the US promoting the show, and now Australia. We touched down yesterday and have been granted wonderfully gloomy weather, complete with a light, misty rain. Such a welcome change from the never ending sunshine of Los Angeles! Us Glee kids were bundled up, ready to go. Alas, today, day two, I have been up since 4:00 am here and my body is telling me, it’s 1:05 pm your time! It’s not Friday, it’s Thursday! Since the sun is not up, and not even the hotel gym is open, I am fumbling around this website, starting something I have meant to create many times before. So here we are. I plan to share bits and pieces of my travels, and maybe friends, family, etc. can visit this site and get clued in a little. It’s hard to keep in touch with everyone, I am always trying to find ways to improve. For now, let’s see how this goes…. (Posted 3 years ago)

Tu me has preguntado que es lo que me interesa cuales son mis manías y me apresuro a responderte. No te asustes, porque son bastantes.

En primer lugar: escribir. Pero en el fondo, eso no entra en las categorias de manias.

Número 2: los arboles genealogicos. Estoy haciendo indagaciones en todos los documentos, diarios y libros, sobre la genealogia de las dinastias de Francia, de Alemania, de España, de Holanda. En la mayoria de los casos he llegado a un lindo resultado, a fuerza de leer y de anotar las biografias y los libros de historia, buenas partes de los cuales he copiado.

Desde luego mi tercera manía es la historia y por eso papa ya me ha comprado muchos libros. Espero con impaciencia el día en que podré revolcer las anaquelerías de la biblioteca pública.

Número cuatro: mitología de Grecia y Roma; poseeo ya diversos libros sobre el tema.

Otras manias: las fotos de familia y de artistas de cine.

Me entusiasman los libros y la lectura. La historia del arte y la literatura me interesan, sobre todo cuando se trata de escritores, de poetas y de pintores. Los músicos vendrán acaso un día.

Siento resuelta antipatía por el algebra, la geografia y todo cuanto es matematicas.

Me gustan todas las demás asignaturas escolares, pero, sobre todo, la historia.

I am a soldier of cinema. That entails a duty: to follow your vision. Remember, you are a soldier, and you also have only one obligation: to be fearless. I am fearless. The word “fear” is not in vocabulary. .

During shooting, you have to overcome your fears. You have to do your duty. Director should never cry. Not the crew, not -specially- the camera crew. Camera zone is a no-cry zone. Remember, only audience can cry.

You must be prepared for the unexpected. BElievers tend to believe on this, because they trust a more powerful force. I am not a believer, but I have faith. Faith moves mountains, not the money.

As director, you have to think of the unthinkable. Because everything tends to be wrong - if it can, it will go wrong. And you must be prepared.
